Devotion

In 2007, LeAnn Morrissey founded Operation Shower as a way to help expectant spouses of deployed service members. It was a simple idea, to send a “baby shower in a box” to four military moms. The support she received during the process of assembling the boxes, along with the gratitude of the mothers and the morale boost for the fathers were all LeAnn needed to realize that this was something worth doing again and again. Soon after, Operation Shower hosted its first unit-wide baby shower. The showers not only provide moms with the most essential items for their babies, but each event creates a platform for communities to come together to show their support to our military. Today, thanks to LeAnn’s devotion to Operation Shower, she has now hosted events for more than 5,000 military families across the country. LeAnn continues to selflessly devote her life to champion the brave men and women who put their lives on the line in order to serve our country.

To put it simply, LeAnn aims to live a life of gratitude.

LeAnn recognized that our military families often had to uproot their entire lives in order to live in close proximity to the military base. We often learn our showers are the only celebration our military families will receive as they prepare to welcome a newborn. LeAnn created an organization that helps military families by lifting much of the financial burden that comes with the birth of a new baby. Additionally, through the showers, LeAnn helps connect those who are facing similar situations so that they do not have to endure deployment and pregnancy alone.

It takes great courage, sacrifice and confidence to follow-through on your dreams. I admire so many things about LeAnn but most of all, I admire her unwavering desire to give-back to our military. LeAnn has built an organization based on love, joy and gratitude. What an incredible legacy to leave on this world!

As 2017 marks our tenth year of hosting joyous baby showers for military families, I cannot think of a better time to honor our fearless leader! As we prepare to host shower number 100, I can say with great confidence that nothing would mean more to LeAnn than the opportunity to serve many more families through the Eagle Rare Life Award. Typically, corporate sponsors provide the financial support which is necessary in order to host our events. Presenting Sponsors provide grants of $25,000 which allows Operation Shower to host 35-40 expectant military families. Operation Shower's group baby showers are the best way for companies to honor military families in person. Our corporate sponsors play an integral role in helping us carry out our mission of hosting joyful baby showers for military families and a gift of $50,000 would allow us to serve up to 80 additional military families.
